CONTROL LAYOUT

The Keeley Electronics TR-2 modification gives you a blend between the stock look and the boutique look. Using Boss parts we have redesigned the depth control area to have a volume control as well! Now you have final control in the output level! This means you can stomp on the pedal for a nice volume boost during solos and drive your amp into a really cool, retro sound, or set it for an even volume level.
By using a dual concentric potentiometer, the appearance is kept clean while making the pedal a useful tool for guitar players, keyboard players, etc. The Keys Man for the Goo Goo Dolls has already sent his in!
We improve the bass response of the pedal. We upgrade the entire audio path for higher fidelity, which leads to more of your natural guitar tone getting through. You will now have more transparency and more highs.
Here is a review of a legendary John Scofield performance, written by resident tech guru & Mod Team Manager, Than Medlam. John is apparently a big fan of the TR-2!!
March 31, 2007
I had the pleasure of catching the John Scofield Trio's last two sets of their four night stint in St. Louis, and it was great! The played a wide array of tunes; some from their upcoming project, some old favorites, and even some covers; including House of the Rising Sun, Miles Davis' "Budo", and even the Stones' "Satisfaction"! It was a chance to see some world class improvisational communication in a truly intimate setting (anyone in the area--if you haven't checked out the "Jazz at the Bistro" concert series you really need to go check it out!). Scofield was playing his trusty '80's Ibanez AS-200 through an AC30 with a couple of new additions to his pedal board; the Keeley 3-way RAT mod and the Keeley TR2 V-Trem!
John's had our pedals on his board for a few months now and it looks like they'll be there for a while! As you can see from the photo of his pedal board, John doesn't run much distortion on his RAT at all, so he really enjoys the added fidelity and low-end response of our mods. "It doesn't cut my low notes off like it used to!" As many of you know, he's used a RAT for years, so we're really proud to have him using ours now! John was also impressed by the versatility of our TR2 mod and its ability to perform as a straight clean boost as well as a tremolo!
So, there you have it, we're extremely excited to announce this new relationship; a world-class player using word-class pedals; John Scofield and Keeley Electronics! (special thanks to John for turning new Keeley user Bill Frisell on to us too!)

Check this out! --> Set the depth for ZERO depth, control all the way off, then set the level control up high.... WOW! A great CLEAN BOOST! Yes, the pedal is dual function now! The sound of the boost is nice and flat with a bit of sparkle to it. Think of the effect of the FA-1 without the EQ section and you'll get an idea of what the pedal can do in the CLEAN BOOST mode!

Here's a review I got in the other day...
"My Boss TR2 has always been one of my favourite pedals despite the little problem of volume loss and slight tone sucking. Mr Keeley’s mod interested me a lot since the first time I‘ve heard of it and now that my pedal is back home and modded I’m absolutely happy!
Basically, Mr. Robert added a second knob to the tremolo depth knob that allows you to set the general volume of the signal when the pedal is on. I set it at 11 o’clock to have the same volume I have with tremolo turned off but sometimes I crank it a little to make tremolo parts louder, which is very nice...
But the best feature is that turning the depth knob to zero you can enjoy the best thing of this mod: a volume boost that, just like Mr. Robert says, adds some sparkle, fattens the sound a little, and maybe works as some sort of compression: my Tele sounds so smooth and brilliant through it!
The boost is already noticeable at 12 o’clock and gets LOUD already at 2. It means that you can have a very strong gain boost if turned to the max before a distortion box. This pedal is SO useful that I couldn’t live without now!
In a few words, if you’re unhappy with your stock TR2, if you’d like to have a brighter sound and more volume control, if you need a boost (and most people do) and you wouldn’t dislike a tremolo, THIS IS THE PEDAL FOR YOU!"
Thanks, sir!

Keeley Modded TR-2 ReviewHERE is really nice review I just got in on Voting Day, 2004
Got the TR-2 Tremolo pedal today!! Just got done with playing with it for a couple of hours, great sounding pedal, just exactly what I was hoping for - a vintage sounding tremolo pedal in a Boss chassis without the vices. Plugged it into my rig (pedal full of stock Boss pedals) absolutely quiet, no unusual electrical noises whatsoever.
Thanks again - Doug
Another really nice email!
The combo of the BD mod, Keeley Comp and Trem pedal mod (functioning as clean boost)is awesome.
I'm set for life. I've been using a Roland GP-8 with an FC-100 foot controller since about 1982 playing a 150-200 gigs a year on Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Although I've been a total freak in amp and guitar land(Gretsch. Matchless, Kendricks, Victoria, '61 Vibroverbs etc) somehow I missed the boat on good effects. Cuz they almost all sorta' suck. I'm truly floored. I'm channeling Roy Buchanan (now).
Thanks for the fine fine products, Yours,
